When lives are disrupted, speed matters. Assessing ground conditions after a major event can be complicated by transport interruptions, safety issues, and compromised infrastructure. But without a complete picture of what the response requires, recovery efforts can be delayed — prolonging the devastation. Nearmap ImpactResponse accelerates your understanding of catastrophic damage with rapid collection of high resolution aerial images following natural disasters, so you can be there for your customers and communities, even when ground access and inspection resources are limited.

A Trusted Source of Post-catastrophe Insights

We’ve been proactively capturing the most significant weather events of the past decade, including the severe California and Oregon fires of the past few years, Hurricane Ida, Tropical Storm Henri, Hurricane Laura, and the midwest tornados. This disaster season alone, we’ve already captured 23 events across more than 29,000 km2. Our proprietary camera systems and patented processing workflow allow us to capture wide areas at speed and push the imagery online rapidly, without compromising quality or coverage.

The spring of 2020 was different in that we had three major tornados hit in a matter of weeks. Nearmap was very responsive; they got planes in air, and we had pictures the next day of damage on the ground. That was before we could even get claim adjusters in there. Having that historical imagery along with oblique views — the way I can get eight views of the house before it was destroyed, we have a really good idea of what it would take to make that person whole again. And we win because we keep a customer, and do what we were intended to do, which is take care of them. Nearmap was a critical part of providing that foundational data to make that happen.
