Australia’s renewable energy market moves quickly and changes rapidly – every week there’s new ground being broken, new infrastructure built, new network technology installed.
Collating and compiling data from multiple sources about all of Australia’s energy projects and infrastructure can eat into time and resources.

Navigate progress with clarity

Keeping up-to-date with the Australian renewable energy landscape is now easier and more relevant thanks to a new partnership between Nearmap and RenewMap.
While some energy decision-makers are still stuck with out-of-date, incomplete project views, RenewMap is providing a more accurate, up-to-date nationwide view of Australia’s renewable energy projects by enabling Nearmap subscribers to activate Nearmap imagery in the RenewMap platform.
RenewMap cuts the time needed to comb through complex data sources, providing a user-friendly interface with answers for more than 3,500 renewable energy projects.
Information includes details about infrastructure, networks, commercial and regulatory factors, and crucially, timelines. If the imagery doesn’t match the timeline, it’s more difficult to accurately assess the current project status. Greater accuracy helps reduce the risk of oversight or error.
RenewMap co-founder and Director Alex Thompson said about the new level of ground truth that Nearmap brings the RenewMap platform: “Whether our users are prospecting for new energy sites, tracking construction progress or analyzing industry trends, this integration means better data, less uncertainty, and more confident outcomes.”

Building for the future with Australia’s progressive renewable energy view

As a centralized resource for assessing project viability, tracking development pipelines, and making data-driven investment and policy decisions, RenewMap offers a clear, updated outlook of the projects that will help position Australia as a global leader in renewable energy.
The platform provides project details, approvals, network connection information, infrastructure and commercial data. Each project provides a summary of overview, details, and timeline – crucial information to guide commercially productive decisions.
The RenewMap database is updated constantly with new information, and now with Nearmap imagery, shows a more up-to-date view of energy sites, confirming project status on the ground.
Nearmap and RenewMap renewable energy mapping brings greater insights to:
  • Energy investors and developers – identify development opportunities
  • Engineering and construction – understand and monitor project and asset status
  • Governments and utilities – make informed policy decisions, validate project status

“When our users need real-time validation of ground conditions at a project site, they can’t afford to guess.”

Alex Thompson, Co-Founder and Director, RenewMap
The clarity and accuracy helps tell a more complete story about the project and its status. One of the advantages of Nearmap is the level of detail you can see in the high-resolution imagery, shown below in a zoomed-in view of the wind turbine, with a spare blade stored on the ground for future maintenance.
The Nearmap team is proud to partner with RenewMap to help Australia take another step towards decarbonization.
This partnership reduces the need for site visits by providing renewable energy decision-makers with a more accurate view to make sustainably profitable decisions.
