The new year is well underway. At Nearmap, we’ve been reflecting on the past but also looking ahead with excitement and enthusiasm.
To put our mission in context, as Nearmap evolved—first in Australia and now also in the US and New Zealand—a singular purpose emerged. We set out on a journey of exploration and discovery focused on capturing truth in the world and harnessing that truth in the form of powerful resources for our customers and partners. This journey has allowed us to bring the real world to you.
As our journey progresses into 2017 and beyond, we continue to be guided by this singular idea: we believe if we change the way people view the world, we profoundly change the way they work. Over the last several years, we have seen this happen. Organisations—both commercial and government—are applying Nearmap in creative ways and in so doing, improving work processes. Oftentimes, this affects their entire lifecycle, both internally and externally with customers. For example, companies use Nearmap for prospecting and targeting. They use Nearmap to estimate and quote with higher degrees of accuracy. They build proposals that showcase our high resolution imagery. They deploy resources in a dramatically more efficient manner. They service customers, monitor change over time and the cycle continues.
There’s purpose behind our journey: to create effortless access to the most useful, engaging and current location content making it possible for anyone to unlock the limitless capacity of truth on the ground. How does this work? Users explore their environment with ease, clarity, and minimum impact. They unlock opportunities allowing them to consistently make informed decisions. They transform the way they work into a productive, strategic advantage.
It’s this strategic advantage that has created a unique bond between Nearmap and our customers. In recent discussions with one customer, it became very clear that they have completely automated the way they analyse geospatial data using a blend of Nearmap and Esri® products. This customer services energy, utility and local governments with in-depth data about gas, water and sewer lines. But they do this in a highly scalable way and, most importantly, in context with the surrounding environment and ground features all of which are visualised using Nearmap. Nearmap has become part of their work processes and in so doing, they’ve invented a unique competitive advantage. When a prospect sits across the table from them, they have confidence the analysis is accurate and thorough. They have confidence their point of innovation will allow them to get the job done at scale and on time. In turn, they win more business and better service their customer base.

We’re often asked why companies use Nearmap with the passion they do. We’re often asked to single out one reason why they continue to access and apply our imagery. As you might guess, there are many but when pushed, we would settle on one—you can be everywhere, without going anywhere. The technical purists may take issue with this statement because technically we aren’t “everywhere” just yet. But that is changing. The concept is what’s important—be everywhere without going anywhere. Instant access to high resolution aerial imagery from your desktop, mobile or tablet matters. “Always-on” matters. Accessibility in the cloud matters. Easy integration with CAD, GIS and purpose built tools matter. The ability to see truth on the ground, detailed ground features and explore your environment in support of unlocking new opportunities is making a big difference in how our customers operate and succeed in today’s highly competitive markets.
We enter 2017 with more enthusiasm than ever before. At Nearmap, all of our teams from Australia to the US are inspired to make this our best year ever. Our customers and partners fuel that inspiration with interesting applications of our imagery every day. We’re committed to your success in 2017. Frankly, we’re charged-up to continue to capture, manage, and deliver the most current location content in the world. Catch the current with us in 2017 as we bring the real world to you.
