Nearmap sponsored Autodesk University 2022 in New Orleans, where attendees had an opportunity to interact with our content stack and solutions for their day-to-day engineering and design workflows. Nearmap booth visitors were impressed to see their area of interest in high resolution — allowing them to measure, design, and plan their current projects as if they were physically there.
Our dedicated sales and solutions engineering teams did a fantastic job demoing Nearmap imagery and topographic data solutions to attendees.
This year, many attendees visited the booth to tell us how much they love using Nearmap. The availability of topographic data solutions available through our photogrammetry pipeline was a large part of the conversations on the floor — as well as the seamless integrations of Nearmap content into Autodesk applications. Customers experienced Nearmap high-fidelity textured 3D mesh in action and point cloud for the most accurate contextual designs for their projects. We highlighted export of topographic data like DEM, point cloud, and other content from Mapbrowser to the Autodesk AEC software suite.
One product feature booth visitors enjoyed was the frequency of captures, which is important for large-scale projects that need to be monitored over long spans of time. Nearmap imagery is captured up to three times per year in the United States (up to six times per year in Australia). 3D content is updated on an annual basis in both markets and is a large value-add to users. All Nearmap content is generated from the same sensor, which is key to lining up datasets so that metrics are not skewed. Third party application integration is critical for customers and partners who ingest Nearmap content to play well in all facets of any industry, including architecture, construction, and engineering.
Nearmap representatives from our product and solutions engineering teams participated in Autodesk University 2022 through two speaker sessions. Nicole Maier, a solutions engineer, and Connor Tluck, a solutions architect, from the Nearmap AEC team, presented “Digital Twins from the Air Down,” which showcased creating a digital twin with Autodesk tools and Nearmap 2D, 3D, and AI content. Jeff Saunders, a solution product manager, presented “Driving into the Metaverse,” which focused on AEC project lifecycle.
This session primarily focused on alternative ways to communicate, collaborate, and convince stakeholders by using high-resolution 3D and AI-derived planimetric data to conceptualize the project in an immersive MR (Mixed Reality) environment using the Autodesk AEC Collection.
The Nearmap and AEC community cheer Autodesk’s new industry cloud focus for advancing digital transformation journeys in the cloud through the introduction of Autodesk Forma. Forma looks to unify all the building information modeling (BIM) workflows for teams who design, build, and operate within the built environment. The key emphasis being the enablement of siloed teams to operate more effectively with tight collaboration across the entire project lifecycle.
Nearmap is excited to see how we can enhance the solutions available within Forma to help accelerate the digital journeys of our customers.
All in all, Nearmap had quite a blast at Autodesk University 2022 and looks forward to making a bigger splash next year.
