Nearmap is proud to sponsor AI.Con 2025 and bring you this exclusive workshop, presented by Dr. Mike Bewley, VP of AI and Computer Vision at Nearmap.

Explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the way we understand, map, and measure the evolving urban landscape.

In this interactive session, Mike pulls back the curtain on Nearmap AI technology, showcasing how petabyte-scale aerial imagery, data science, and machine learning converge to deliver powerful, actionable insights into how cities change over time.

Whether you’re an AI practitioner, data analyst, or simply curious about the future of geospatial intelligence, this session offers real, hands-on value.

About Dr. Mike Bewley

Mike leads the AI and Computer Vision group at Nearmap, building the core technology and team that turns large scale aerial imagery into visual and semantic products for customers in property insurance, local government, and a wide range of other commercial applications. He started as the company’s first data scientist in 2017, and lead the first national scale beta launch and subsequent product iterations for Nearmap AI – a product line that turns aerial imagery into maps of buildings, swimming pools, solar panels and the like. He now focusses on building out the technology that will power future products. He has recently completed the technical integration of a recent acquisition in the Insuretech space into the Nearmap AI stack. Mike has experience in a range of high stakes and regulated industries, from medical devices at Cochlear, banking, to environmental monitoring and underwater robotics during his PhD at the ACFR.
