Inspiration is powerful. It can kickstart a business, help solve problems and encourage people to discover and explore the world around them. Of course, the world has felt a lot smaller in recent months with Covid-19… but what if we change the way we look at it?
At Nearmap, we’re rather fond of changing the way our customers see the world (it’s part of our mission after all!) and for this reason we’re loving Tourism Australia’s latest campaign asking Aussies to ‘Holiday Here This Year.’ It’s an “immediate and urgent call to action to get out there and rediscover their own backyard,” as Tourism Australia puts it.
This seemingly simple campaign is about perspective. It’s about resetting the overseas holiday mindset and thinking local, #SeeAustralia. We’ve witnessed empty beaches. We’ve captured the blackened landscapes. Supporting businesses and communities is something we at Nearmap whole-heartedly applaud.
Celebrity selfies and hashtags help (and we note that there may never be another legitimate reason for the Nearmap blog to reference a Hemsworth) — they certainly catch attention, but it’s the destinations themselves that do the heavy lifting, with adventure, natural beauty, urban delights and a tapestry of Aussie towns to discover.
You may have heard that seats aboard a recent ‘flight to nowhere’ sold out in minutes with passengers glimpsing iconic landmarks on a seven-hour round trip from Sydney. We’re sure the in-flight catering was top notch, but as views go, we reckon we can do better right here.
If inspiration is what people need to plan and book their ‘Holiday Here’, at Nearmap we have it in spades. We have it in crystal clear high-resolution aerial images. Millions of them, in fact. Here are just some of our favourite places with the #HolidayHereThisYear tag. And there’s more to come. Enjoy!
