Community guidelines

We live in a big world so let's make sense of it together. We encourage you to explore the PhotoMaps, get involved and share your ideas and finds with the community.

The PhotoMaps are generally free for personal use, and members of the community are welcome to share environmental information, texts, photos and video that they have created themselves. For this to work however, we have to respect each other. The following guidelines apply to all participants and members of the NearMap community.

Do

Play nice

We respect and encourage free speech. However, like any community, we comprise of many types of people from all walks of life who have the right to individual beliefs and opinions. Be mindful of this and be respectful in your interactions with your fellow community members.

Share only legal content

Post only content that would NOT violate any law or regulation.

Share appropriate content

Always ensure the content you share (e.g. any posts, attachments or links) is considered safe and appropriate. This means your content has to be suitable for all ages, including young children. If the content you share is considered inappropriate in any way, we may remove the content, monitor your account as restricted and send you a warning.

Register and own ONE authentic account

It’s important to be true to ourselves and those around us. Registering only ONE authentic account allows you to establish a single identity in our community, which everyone will grow to know, recognise and respect - this helps in building better rapport within the community.

Post only from your own account

Your account belongs to you, so post only from your own account. If your friends wish to take part in the conversations, get them to join the community by signing up for their own accounts. This reduces any misunderstandings and prevents any unnecessary inconvenience (e.g. if your account gets banned for other people’s actions).

Be positive

Everyone in the community has equal rights on the site, so do spare a thought for others; and keep your interactions positive.

We do not support the posting of material that is defamatory, inaccurate, threatening, racist or invasive of a person’s privacy.

Spare a thought for others

If you continuously download a large amount of data from our servers, we may have to limit your download speeds in order to give everyone fair access to the site.

Post messages only once and in one forum

Duplicated messages and posts are annoying for everyone. Please post a message only once in one forum and do not post the same message in multiple forums.

Keep this a spam-free and scam-free zone

Spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, solicitations, and unapproved advertisements are forbidden on this Forum. We will delete any posts we consider to be spam.

Give us a nudge at the forum if you come across any such posts which we may have missed.

Don’t

We never like to be told what not to do, so let's just focus on the ‘Do’ list above.

Materials on this website

We will also try to ensure that all material on our website is safe and appropriate. However, by using our PhotoMaps and our website you may be exposed to material that you may find offensive, indecent or objectionable.

If you come across any such material, do not reply to their posts or engage in conversation with them. Instead, let us know. We will review the material and determine if removal or amendment is necessary. This is a manual process, so we may not be able to remove or edit particular content immediately. Although we will try to remove any objectionable material from our site, you understand that you use our website and our PhotoMaps at your own risk.

Liability
